Membership is the challenge of the new millennium. I am proud to say that our district is leading the way. In the last half of 2000, we increased our membership by 85, the biggest increase of any district in the United States. Well done fellow Lions! But remember! A well-earned reputation has to be upheld! Keep recruiting so we can keep growing.

We have two very active Leo Clubs in our district. Within the Leo Clubs are future leaders of the Lions. They have a destiny and we have the responsibility to nurture that destiny.

LIONS INTERNATIONAL YOUTH EXCHANGE

If countries cooperated in the same way Lions from different countries work together, the world would be an amazing place. That level of cooperation requires cross-cultural understanding and empathy. One of the ways we create our international community is through youth exchanges in which young people live with families abroad in order to develop an appreciation for another way of living and looking at the world. This is an important undertaking that we need to take more seriously.

Young people need to be healthy and well motivated to grow into strong adults. Lions Quest helps young people avoid some of the hazards of growing up. And it encourages them to participate in their communities; some become Leos and grow into strong, masterful Lions.
